UAE Judo Team to Compete in Tashkent Grand Slam

The UAE Judo Federation has announced the participation of its national team in the Tashkent Grand Slam from February 28 to March 2, 2025. Five athletes will represent the team, focusing on international experience ahead of the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.


UAE Judo Team to Compete in Tashkent Grand Slam

The Ministry of Youth Affairs has confirmed the participation of the national team in the Grand Slam tournament in Tashkent - one of the major events in a series of international competitions held by the Judo Federation of Uzbekistan. The tournament will take place from February 28 to March 2 of this year. Among the selected athletes for participation in the competitions are five champions: Hamid Said al-Shamsi (weight category 60 kg), Nadji Izbik (weight category 66 kg), Karim Abdullatif (weight category 73 kg), Rashid al-Meshderi (weight category 81 kg), and Bakhera Kharudi (weight category 52 kg).

The head of the Judo Federation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mahammed ibn Taalub al-Darai, emphasized that the participation of the youth national team in the Grand Slam tournament is one of the stages in preparing the reserve national team and gaining international experience to support the main team, which is currently preparing for the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028. He also added that the judo development strategy in the Republic of Uzbekistan is aimed at expanding the participation of athletes and creating champions capable of representing the Republic and competing for victory in international competitions.
